About the Job:
The Development Manager plays a key role in advancing Compass's fundraising initiatives by supporting major donor cultivation, managing development-focused special events, optimizing development operations, and providing strategic support to the Chief External Affairs Officer (CEAO). This position helps drive individual giving strategy while ensuring effective systems and processes to support the organization's overall fundraising goals.


Primary Responsibilities


Individual Giving Program:

  • Support the CEAO to conduct major donor cultivation and stewardship strategies  
  • Manage donor pipeline and moves management system  
  • Create and implement donor engagement plans  
    Track and analyze giving patterns and donor retention  
  • Contribute to functional strategy development for individual giving programs 

Development Events:

  • Lead timeline and execution for virtual and in-person fundraising events  
  • Manage all aspects of development event planning and implementation  
  • Support Board members and other supporters in hosting cultivation events  
  • Oversee vendor relationships for development events  
  • Track event metrics and ROI  
  • Coordinate with other departments for cross-functional event support  

Systems and Operations:

  • Lead Salesforce optimization initiatives  
  • Create and implement data management protocols  
  • Develop analytics and advanced reporting  
  • Manage complex gift tracking and restricted fund documentation  
  • Ensure data integrity and compliance with organizational policies  
  • Support departmental budget management and planning

Strategic Support:

  • Support CEAO with high-level donor relationships  
  • Contribute to departmental strategy development and annual planning  
  • Manage complex projects  
  • Create high-level donor communications  
  • Support cross-departmental initiatives  
  • Participate in strategic planning for development functions  

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 5+ years of progressive development experience  
  • Demonstrated success in donor relations and special events  
  • Strong project management skills  
  • Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills  
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities  
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment  
  • Commitment to the mission and values of the organization

Preferred:

  • Experience in social services or affordable housing sector  
  • Knowledge of moves management and major gifts fundraising  
  • Experience with development event planning and execution  
  • Advanced Salesforce skills  
  • Experience working with Board members and high-level volunteers  

Benefits:

The salary range for this role is $85,000.00 to $95,000.00. We'll promote your professional growth and development by providing access to a competitive salary and benefits package and additional employee benefits that include but are not limited to:
